Dino Morasci, owner of Brenni SA, began working at Emilio Fulgenzio Brenni, active since 1932, in September 1962, hired as an office apprentice at just 15 years old.
When he was 18 after obtaining his driver's license, he was entrusted with the organization of the Monteforno and Cartiera construction sites in Tenero. "Since I was the only one with a driver's license I was in charge of taking the workers to the construction sites, but since I was already then a person of action they immediately entrusted me with the whole organization," Morasci says and adds, "In those days many tilers came from the Olgiate Comasco area, from Val d'Intelvi but also from Abruzzo; it is thanks to them that I learned the trade. I got my diploma when I was already 40 years old by then."
In 1972, Brenni was transformed into an SA by Brenni, Morasci and Scerri, and in the 1980s Morasci became sole proprietor. Just in the 1980s, due to the advent of glazed tiles on the market, the production of cement grit was abandoned. The name "Brenni" was never replaced, both because it was well known in the region, but also because of a promise made by Morasci to Mr. Brenni on his very wedding day. In 1999 his son Luca, after several years of studying architecture, joined the company and became administrative manager.
Currently, the company, which is based in what used to be the neighborhood washhouse, has 12 employees, an exhibition space of about 180 square meters and a warehouse of about 600 square meters.
"There are about 3,000 inventoried items in our warehouse, not counting the small stock of tiles that includes red stoneware or glazed semigres, products that are now 30 to 40 years old." Morasci adds Since 2006, in addition to tile marketing and installation, 20 percent of the business has been dedicated to bathroom furniture. "We mainly follow private clients, customizing our work as much as possible," says Luca Morasci and adds, "We provide advice in tile selection, design, and an after-sales and maintenance service."
