Félix Constructions SA (Denges)

From small workshops to industrial halls (1930s to 1950s)

In 1935, Robert Félix opens his locksmith's workshop in Lausanne, a Swiss town on Lake Geneva, not far from Geneva. A year later, he registered his first patent for an innovative sliding window mechanism. His son André succeeded him in 1953 and began developing aluminum profile systems. He transformed the small family workshop into an industrial enterprise, setting up in the nearby suburb of Bussigny.

Prominent curtain walls (1960s to 1980s)

The company continued to grow and, in 1965, developed a new curtain wall system for Geneva airport, incorporating thermal breaks and insulating joints. In 1971, the company installed the largest volumes of insulating glass produced at the time on the facades of the UN in Geneva. Following several high-profile façade projects in Switzerland, the company won its first international project in 1973 for Nestlé in Barcelona. The company unveiled façades using extra-thin transom profiles and ventilated panels. In the 1980s, Félix constructions also carried out a number of prestigious projects in the Middle East, in Syria and Iraq.

Collaboration with world-renowned architects (1990s)

In the 1990s, the company entered the UK market under the leadership of Laurent Félix, the third generation to hold this position. The opening of the Felix UK subsidiary in London, headed by Hans-Peter Schmidlin, laid the foundations for Felix's involvement in many unusual projects, under the guidance of world-renowned architects. At this stage, Felix's experience in aluminum, glass and facade panels ensures exclusivity for an extensive range of specialized products and patents.

International expansion (2000s)

Under the leadership of Edgar Joffré, Félix constructions entered the Spanish market in 2008. Its Madrid office was the catalyst for the construction of the famous Torre Iberdrola in Bilbao. With its new move to Denges, near Lausanne, the company now has the space it needs to develop its engineering and production activities. State-of-the-art equipment enables the company to achieve a higher level of quality and excellence in custom-made products.

Custom façade systems (2010s)

In 2014, new managing director Kai-Uwe Schweizer put in place a new management team to strengthen the company's position in what remains a highly competitive market. Today, Félix constructions focuses on highly sophisticated, innovative and customized façade systems. Thanks to its engineering skills and long-standing experience in architectural understanding, it offers the design and production of architectural envelopes under the world-renowned "Swiss Made" label.
