Hunziker Eduardo (Carouge GE)

A Swiss-Argentine national, Eduardo Hunziker was born in Buenos Aires in 1964.

Between 1983 and 1988, he studied architecture at the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, University of Buenos Aires. In 1988, he obtained his degree in architecture. His diploma work, an intervention in the Port of Olivos in Buenos Aires, was awarded top marks and exhibited at the International Colloquium of the University of Buenos Aires in July 1989.

In 1989, he arrived in Switzerland and, thanks to the trust placed in him by architect Massimo Lopreno, began working as an architect in Geneva. For 10 years he worked for the offices of Massimo Lopreno, Laurent Chenu-Pierre Jéquier and Richter-Dahl Rocha.

To support his architectural development on 3 pillars, he took part in competitions and completed post-graduate studies in parallel with his professional activity. In 1991, as a collaborator, he helped win 4th prize for the new hospital in Riaz, FR. In 1993, in association with his brother Marcelo Hunziker, also an architect, he was one of the finalists (3rd elimination round) in the ideas competition for the development of the Services Industriels de Genève site.

Between 1994 and 1996, he completed post-graduate studies in Building Heritage Preservation (960 hours), under the supervision of Professor Bruno Reichlin at the University of Geneva's Institute of Architecture (IAUG). In 1999, he obtained his Diplôme d'Etudes Supérieures en Sauvegarde du Patrimoine Bâti with his diploma work, a project to rehabilitate the Sanatorium de Guébriant in Passy, Haute Savoie, France. (PDF) He is the only graduate of his class and becomes the 1st graduate of the post-graduate cycle since its creation in Geneva.

Between 1996 and 1999, as architect with Richter-Dahl Rocha, he was responsible for the design and execution of the renovation of the Nestlé headquarters in Vevey, VD, for floors 1 to 5.

In 2000, after 10 years of collaboration, he set up his own office and began his independent career. Since 2001, he has worked in association with Villat & Associés SA.
