1st generation

Thomas

1902

Thomas Orth, great-grandfather of Thomas Orth, founded the company "Malerwerkstätten Orth" in Wuppertal, Germany, in the same year as the inauguration of the suspended train.

His two sons, Hans and his brother Gustav, learned the art of painting and worked in their father's and other companies.

2nd generation

Hans and Gustav

1934

Thomas Orth, 1st generation, dies. His wife runs the company with her two sons. After Gustav's death, his brother Hans took over the company independently.

1943

During the Second World War, the workshop and house were destroyed (razed to the ground) and Hans Orth and his mother Margot rebuilt the company in Wuppertal Vohwinkel.

After his father suffered a heart attack, Hans and Margot had to choose whether to close the company, sell it or hand it over to their son Udo Orth.

Udo Orth took over the company, which at the time had only 3 employees, for health reasons.

His ideas about his future were very different, and had little to do with his father's company.

Under Udo Orth's leadership, the company expanded again in the 80s and 90s, employing up to 40 people.

1977

Udo Orth bought a plot of land in the Wuppertal Vohwinkel industrial park and built offices and workshops for the "Malerwerkstätten Orth" company.

During these years, Udo Orth became a "restorer in the paint trade and federal specialist".

International expansion in Germany guarantees a full order book, and the company employs an average of fifteen people.

4th generation

1993

Thomas Orth graduated from the Thomaeum Gymnasium in Kempen with the Abitur. To learn French and improve his English, he spent a year abroad, first in London, then in Besançon (Doubs), France.

His 4-month stay with a painter came to an end. Together, they restored the 19th-century Château d'Amondans in the Doubs region.
