For centuries, lime has been a basic ingredient in mortars used for rendering. This natural, environmentally-friendly product is highly prized by plasterers for its excellent dyeability, durability and physical properties. Waterproof but permeable to water vapour, lime is a breathable material, an essential quality for a rendering intended to improve a wall's insulating capacity. In addition to its excellent resistance to water vapor, lime is also a sanitizing and antibacterial material. Such a product is more than worthy of use in any carefully designed living space. All these qualities make lime an essential ingredient in the production of healthy, decorative plasters.

This material is therefore at the heart of the activities of our company, Terres & Matières. We are committed to creating natural renderings using lime and other ecological materials for healthy, finely-decorated interiors. We pay particular attention to the environmental impact of our work, and strive to keep it to a minimum through the application of ancestral techniques combined with equally environmentally-friendly modern processes. These techniques are the result of a long and rich training course with an experienced master matierist, where our craftsman learned to master the creation of lime stucco, faux stone, decorative plaster or earth plaster, as well as patinas, whitewashes and frescoes.
